Prologue
There is something amiss in the world.
The world feels distant today. More distant than it has ever been. For the first time in my life, I want to be left behind. I don’t want to run with the rest and compete. I want to walk back to how it was while incorporating the learnings from the now.
The path that society is taking and its goals have diverged from me, an individual. I have become uncomfortable. The more I express this to folks I meet, the more I hear an echo chamber.
The societal structures that came from the past, especially since the World Wars, had one underlying key fundamental - ethics. Today, these ethics are being skirted, the structures have gone through years of gamification, humans are being indoctrinated to become consumption and propagation machines, and we are destroying the world around us for the benefit of a few in the name of “progress”.
When I ask myself why further progress is required, I can’t come up with a good answer other than that progress results in new avenues of monetary gains. This serves the capital markets and hence it is an insatiable beast. Today, I am not sure what these monetary gains are bringing us. We lack relationships and family, cost of living is at an all time high, we are lacking the ability to own goods, we are not looking to expand our life through consumption of great art, and more importantly we do not have the time or the means to craft great art.
We have a void in our lives. There is a loss of meaning and purpose. We are at a crossroads. A portion of us have given up and are doing what is needed to go with the flow and another portion of us is retaliating in ways that seems to be of the mode - take from the some and give to the many. Both these ways of existence are concerning and one may attach words like dejection, complacency, and hate to these ways.
We need a new way! This new way needs to be constructive rather than destructive. This new way needs to be in our control rather than at the behest of others. This new way needs to be based in love instead of hatred and jealousy. This new way needs to be a counterposition to the flows of society.
I have questioned the dogma, asked myself how we can build a society of love, companionship, and beauty, while making sure that this new way of society is in touch with the views of the individuals who inhabit it. Humanity, today, has the need to return to its roots - roots of community, family, and creativity. Societal structures as such have to be rethought.
In the following writings, I will explore issues that we face in society today. In no way do I think this exploration will be all encompassing, but I think we will touch on major issues that we are facing today.
This is not merely a philosophical treatise. My goal with these writings is to touch on thoughts that have been developed through observations of the past few years, while purporting solutions that are grounded. Some of these solutions are in fact being executed upon as I write this. I think we have something here. Something that is not built on balancing the needs of people in the aftermath of progress, but something built in the now rooted in human grit and creativity. This is meant to be a grassroots movement - a new way of seeing with an old way of living.
I have not plotted the journey of my writings beforehand and I will try to flesh out a list as I go along. For now, below is the structure I am going to follow:
